On Wednesday evening in Newport News, a man was injured after accidentally shooting himself during an altercation at a 7-Eleven store. The incident happened at the 7-Eleven located in the 12600 block of Nettles Drive at around 7:11 p.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and took him to a hospital for treatment. During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that an employee at the store had gotten into an altercation with at least one customer outside of the business. The physical confrontation resulted in the employee accidentally shooting himself.
