In preparation for the European Football Championship, police officers conducted security checks at the Leipzig stadium to ensure safety for the event. A total of 580 foreign police officers will be deployed in Germany during the tournament, which kicks off on Friday.

Officers from all countries participating in the tournament will be stationed at railway stations, on trains, at airports, and borders to maintain safety and order. The primary focus of their deployment will be on de-escalation and communication, as emphasized in a statement by the ministry.

The German Ministry of the Interior announced that 350 officers from abroad will be assisting the Federal Police in combating crime and hooliganism. An additional 230 officers will be stationed at the International Police Cooperation Center in Neuss, focusing on security measures in Western Germany.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser emphasized the need to be prepared for various threats, from potential terrorist attacks to violent offenders and hooligans. The Federal Police are gearing up for the largest deployment in their history, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the safety of all participants and spectators during the European Football Championship.
