In 2024, the San Francisco 49ers hope to convince receiver Brandon Aiyuk to join the team under a fifth-year option salary of $14.1 million. However, there is uncertainty about whether Aiyuk is willing to accept those terms. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, recent discussions have taken place between Aiyuk and the 49ers, but they have not led to any progress towards a long-term deal.

Garafolo reported that while no trade request has been made by Aiyuk, there seems to be a difference in expectations between the player and the team. It is believed that Aiyuk’s agent was allowed to explore a trade before the draft in order to show Aiyuk that his reported demand of $30 million per year was unrealistic.

If Aiyuk is looking for more than the $14.1 million offered by the 49ers, he may need to take a firm stance. The question now is whether the 49ers will meet Aiyuk’s demands, similar to how they did with Nick Bosa the previous year.
