Ledecky, a 22-year-old swimmer, secured a spot on the US Swimming Olympic Team by finishing with a time of 3:58.35 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be her fourth Olympic Games. She credits her motivation to keep pushing higher and higher to the people around her.

A crowd of 20,689 watched the event at the stadium, which is usually home to the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. In addition to Ledecky’s success, Gretchen Walsh also showed impressive skills by setting a world record in the women’s 100m butterfly with a time of 55.18 in a semifinal heat. Walsh broke the record set by Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

Walsh, who is trying to qualify for her first Olympic Games, will continue competing in three more events at the trials. The US Swimming Olympic Team Trials will continue through June 23, with the 2024 Paris Olympics set to start on July 26 and run through August 11.
