On October 15, 2022, the excitement was palpable at Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City as the Utah football team prepared for their game against USC. The players were seen running out onto the field, ready to take on what promised to be an intense match.

The following day, Sunday, turned out to be a successful day for Utah’s recruiting efforts. The team secured commitments from two linebackers in the class of 2025: three-star Hawaii linebacker Max Fonoimoana and four-star Las Vegas linebacker Christian Thatcher.

Thatcher made the decision to commit to the Utes over notable offers from various schools, including USC, Washington, and Texas A&M. His top-six choices were narrowed down to USC, Washington, Oklahoma, Utah, Kansas, and Colorado before he ultimately chose to join Kyle Whittingham’s program.

Thatcher’s impressive statistics during his junior season at Arbor View High School solidify his standing as a top linebacker in the 2025 class. He has been recognized by ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports for his talent and potential. With Thatcher’s commitment, Utah now boasts eight incoming recruits for the 2025 class. This addition further strengthens the team’s roster and speaks to the continued success of Utah’s recruiting efforts.
