Two Wisconsin Badgers have made it to 247Sports’ list of the ‘100 first-year players who will influence the 2024 college football season.’ These two standout recruits are linebacker Thomas Heiberger and offensive tackle Kevin Heywood.

Heywood is the headliner of Wisconsin’s class of 2024, finishing at No. 50 overall and No. 4 on the offensive tackle rankings. Despite his lack of experience, Heywood could be one of Wisconsin’s primary depth options at tackle in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Heiberger finished with four-star status, ranked as the 462 overall player in the class and No. 40 linebacker.

Both freshmen are expected to play significant roles for the Badgers in 2024 despite their lack of collegiate experience. Heywood has already made an early impression and could see significant playing time, while Heiberger could start on special teams due to his athleticism.

Wisconsin enters 2024 with veteran starters at both tackle positions, but Heywood’s potential for immediate contributions and impressive play has caught the attention of coaches. Similarly, Heiberger’s athleticism has also earned him snaps on special teams, showing his versatility on the field.

Looking ahead to the future, both players are projected to be impact starters in their respective positions, with potential for immediate contributions in their freshman year. Wisconsin’s class of 2025 ranks No. 13 in the nation and No. 5 in the Big Ten after adding Wilnerson Telemaque, setting up a bright future for the Badgers.
