The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), Baltimore Development Corporation, and Baltimore Mayor’s Office recently announced the winners of the 49th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards recognize organizations that have demonstrated significant leadership and commitment to improving the city’s quality of life.

This year’s 14 winners include a diverse range of businesses and organizations such as the B&O Railroad Museum, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and UnitedHealthcare. The GBC revamped the awards program to acknowledge companies and organizations that exemplify at least one of five categories: economic opportunity, ambassador for Baltimore Region, local investment, supporting safe and vibrant communities, and community redevelopment.

The GBC introduced a multiyear agenda at its May annual meeting, following the merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore. The agenda includes 12 initiatives to support the organization’s combined role in shaping the region’s economic future and driving collective impact for over 500 businesses and organizations committed to the region. The initiatives mainly focus on areas such as economic opportunity, transportation and infrastructure, and collective impact.

The winners will be celebrated at an event on December 13 at the M&T Bank Exchange at the France Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore.
