The economic relationship between China and Africa has evolved significantly since the early 2000s, as China’s economy has matured and its reliance on African resources has decreased. In a new paper by Zainab Usman and Tang Xiaoyang, five key economic trends are identified that are reshaping this relationship.

Zainab Usman, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and an expert in institutions, economic policy, energy policy, and emerging economies in Africa, has authored several reports on social sustainability, policy reforms, natural resources management, and disruptive technologies in countries such as Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Nigeria, among others.
